Baby Shower Cakes
One of the reasons I took cake decorating classes was to make cute baby shower cakes. My niece asked me if I could make a baby shower cake for a friend. I was so excited and thought of a pink or blue cake. Then she said she wanted a cowboy baby cake with red bandanas. She asked, "Can you make that." I naturally said yes and then went home and didn't sleep for a week thinking of all the things I could put on it. The cake had everything from baby's in buckskin, to horses, cactus, baby's sleeping under bandanas and of course leather looking lettering w sheriff's badges with the baby's name on it. This was the first cake I ever made and the requests for strange cakes have kept on coming.

Below is a baby shower cake for twins. The babies and the clothes are made out of fondant.

Another niece asked me to do a baby cake for her friend. I was equally excited about getting to make a nice little cake. She said her friend was having a boy. My niece had been teasing her about the only clothes you can buy for boys have dinosaurs or monster trucks on them. Yes, she wanted a cake with a monster truck and a dinosaur in the back. It took a couple more sleepless nights to figure out how to attempt this, but as you can see the dinosaur and the truck came out just fine. The truck is covered in fondant, the baby is fondant and the dinosaur is butter cream with sugar cookie arms and tail.

The next two cakes are cute baby cakes. One has a clothes line with fondant clothes and a baby playing in the clothes basket. The other one has blocks with fondant letters spelling out his name. The baby is fondant and the toys scattered around are fondant. Under the blue blanket on top is a fondant baby asleep sucking his thumb.
